Curious Power of Vision Boards
When I created my vision board some years ago, I was drawn to include a close-up photo of a beautiful woman of colour singing into an old-fashioned style microphone. At the time, I didn’t really understand it; I just knew that from this magazine picture I could feel the power of this woman’s voice coming from deep within.
Fast forward to Christmas 2 years ago. There under the tree, as a gift from my fella, were singing lessons with local jazz great, Maureen Washington. I cried big tears — an uncomfortable moment for my partner: like many men, he was wasn’t sure if he had just “done good” or “done bad” in the gift-giving department! He had no idea I had ‘visioned’ this.
I’ve been taking lessons with Maureen for a while now – a highlight of which was last summer when she hosted a student recital and, for the first time, I sang solo at the mic. This was an amazing moment of personal growth: I had been absolutely convinced that I would leave this earth with the regret of never having sung a song.
I share this story with you because I believe that the visioning process, along with aligned action, can be a powerful way to manifest what we long to be, do or have. What’s the life song you long to sing?
