Unsatisfied wishes. Regret. These are the things we do not want to bring with us into retirement.
They do, however, help us realize that we want something different than what is presently in our life. (Have you ever felt the nudge?) Wishes are clues to our life’s potential so it’s important to pay attention to them.
Below are some of the many wishes I’ve heard in my years of coaching. Which are true for you?
I wish I had
- more certainty in my goals/direction
- less confusion about where to go next
- more ‘mojo’
- more fun
- a life aligned with my passions
- something I felt passionate about
I wish I could
- have less stress
- be more confident
- know what I do best
- understand my family
- describe my authentic self
I wish I felt
- less stuck
- that I knew the real me
- my retirement had meaning
- ‘on purpose’
- I could find my joy

It starts with a gentle nudging from within. The feeling of an elbow on the inside, poking you gently in the ribs.
“…hey…” it drawls softly. You feel it, but you’re busy. You brush it aside.
Sometime later, you feel it again. “Hey…” it says. This time you feel it a bit more strongly, but you’re busy being “busy”. You push it down.
You will feel it again.
The Nudge, once it’s begun to appear, doesn’t ever really go away. In fact it grows stronger.
It may wait until some other life-changing incident happens – divorce, empty nest, downsizing, etc.
You will feel it again.
“Hey!” it nudges strongly from the inside.
This is the inner call that there is some thing, some way and/or some you that is really trying hard to get your attention.
It’s my hope that you’ll heed the call, so that the you that longs to be, finally has the opportunity to do so.
If you’re curious about The Nudge, identify with the Wish Lists, or are looking at how retirement can be created to align with your passions, I hope you’ll contact me for a complimentary ‘cup of tea’ meeting.
I also invite you to read more about previous client’s experiences which you can read here, or a more in depth experience from one client here.
